Cam The Man

It's been over a week since Camden has been home and he already has several nicknames. We call him Cam, Cam-Cam, and Cam the Man. I also call him...

Bubba and Bubs. Don't ask, I don't know where it came from. I am not particularly southern, but sometimes when he's wanting to eat in the middle of the night it just slips out. I think it's going to stick.

If you read my blog often you'll be relieved to know that we do not call him McLovin. And I'm sure what you're thinking right now is, "Yeah, because Bubba is so much better."

Anyway, 10 days after the c-section and I'm feeling great. I had forgotten how much I disliked being immobilized by my healing abdomen. Luckily it only took a week for me to be able sit up on my own (without help or pain pills).

I'll admit I was nervous about the scheduled C. With Riley we spent two days trying to labor and by the end of it I was so exhausted I didn't care how she came out, just that they got her out at all. This time the fact that I got a nice 5 hour delay to think about it coupled with not being physically and mentally exhausted resulted in me being so much more aware of what was going on.

Right down to the epidural/spinal block that took TWO tries (we will not go there), the sounds (of my doctor talking with the nurses about delicious Dubliner cheese from Costco), the sights and yes even the smells (I will not go there either). I also was keenly aware of how long it took - for some reason I had this idea that the surgery was about 15 minutes, not an hour total start to finish.

If at this point you're still wondering how they could be cutting open a person and talking about how badly they wanted that cheese I guarantee you are not alone.

The only thing that wasn't different from Riley's c-section was the way I felt and the rush of emotion I had when they pulled him out and I saw and heard him for the first time. Your heart just doesn't forget something like that. At that moment every worry and anxious thought was gone and all that was left was love.

And come on how could you look at his round little face and not want to call him Bubba?

  1. That is so funny! The last name I ever thought would come out of my mouth was Bubba, but Kyle was Bubba for the first few months of his life. Ha! Must be a 1st boy thing. :)

Such special pictures that you share and I am glad that you are on your way to feeling much better. I can't imagine.
