So Fresh

and so clean. On his one month birthday my baby boy had his first bath.

This is before.

And during. He loved it!

Sorry it's blurry we had let the shower run on hot a bit to warm it up in there for him.

And I loved smelling his clean baby skin that night during his feedings.

Seen and Heard

SEEN:

Riley Roo trying out the Moby Wrap a friend is letting me borrow. She wore it like that for a little bit and then informed me it was too tight and that it was "coking" her neck.

Our house is almost done! I stopped by there last Friday and I got so excited. The landscaping has been started (just waiting on sod) and the driveway and sidewalks were poured. They were working hard on the inside and most of the trims, moldings, and shadow boxing were up. The kitchen was being installed that day and some of the fixtures and cabinets were going in. We are officially 3 weeks from closing (if we are able to close on time) and I know we have a lot to do in that short time, but we are just so excited to move in!!!

HEARD:

In the car sitting at McD's. I'm feeding the little guy and Riley is eating her lunch in the backseat.

Riley: singing... I fallying to cieces, yah, I fallying to cieeeeeces.

Summer is coming

It's not quite summer yet, but it's warm enough and...

The fountains are on again! Wednesday night I was wanting some ice cream and TG informed me of this little factoid. So we combined a trip to Haagen Dazs with a trip to the fountains for the princess. It was an awesome way to spend an evening.

(By the way if you clicked the link - can you believe how much older she looks in less than a year? Slow down time, just a little.)

Modeling her new swimsuit from Gigi.

Trying to stop the water...

unsuccessfully.

Cooling her "jets".

The little guy doing what he does best.

Fotos Only Friday

well sort of.

Someone is already one month old.

And I fall a little more in love everyday.

Seen and Heard

SEEN:

Eat your heart out Fancy Nancy. Riley is very into dressing herself up in all combinations of outfits these days. She will put everything on, take everything off over and over again all the while walking in and out of our door saying hello, and some version of bye, see you soon, love you this much. It's so darn cute. Notice the "venture" hat her Gampy got her. It goes with every outfit.

HEARD:

Riley "swadding" her doll up on the floor over and over again while I feed Camden.

Me: Hey Ry, can you bring brother's lotion to me?
Riley: Yes, okay Mommy. I swadding my baby. Jus give me one second.

Clearly she's heard 'just give me one second' a few times lately.

Missing Her Friends

I think Riley is missing her friends. This afternoon while Cam napped in his bouncy seat I ran around like a mad person doing laundry, dinner prep, and cleaning. I had set Riley up with some "markeders", "colyours" and paper at the table, but when I emerged form the laundry room she had disappeared.

I found her downstairs in my room watching "rat tootie" on the Disney channel with her new friends.

Bless her lonely heart, the poor thing had all three of them lined up on the seat next to her and she kept asking them what their name was and how old they were. She then instructed me to say hello to her friends "Tinkdeybell, Baby, and Princess". Right now she's napping with all three of her litte friends with her.

We might be needing to schedule a playdate with some real friends soon.

And just in case you wondered what the little guy is looking like these days.

Barefoot Rileyessa

Riley loves baking. Whenever I'm in the kitchen with mixing bowls she starts dragging over a chair to "hewlp". Yesterday as a reward for using the potty her Gigi let her bake and decorate sugar cookies.

The cookies were break and bake, so mess free which is awesome. But the decorating was a little messier. Gigi bought sprinkles and M&M's to top the cookies with. Riley is a heavy decorator. She dumped whole handfuls of sprinkles on each cookie and mashed several M&M's into each one.

She was also a heavy eater. We didn't notice until halfway through, but for each handful of M&M's she took to decorate she shoved a handful in her mouth. Needless to say she didn't eat much dinner that night. Instead she ran circles like a crazy person in the backyard.

3 weeks and going strong

Camden has been here three weeks. I thought time flew by with Riley, but with him it's just ridiculous. I guess because I'm so busy taking care of my darling first born as well as my sweet second born I don't have a spare minute to stop and think.

So far the most difficult part of managing two has been the potty. Especially if we are out and about and I can't just take off running with her to the nearest one. Poor Riley has already had an accident because I couldn't get to her fast enough. And poor Camden has already experienced several times of being yanked away from his "meal" so I can get her to the toilet.

The other funny thing is how his little sounds don't make me worry so much. With Riley every little noise would make me rush in and pick her up. With Camden I don't go check unless he's crying...continuously for a minute or so. I also never laid her down by herself for the first month AT LEAST. Cam already takes regular naps in his pack and play.

Other than that we're settling into sort of a routine which if I remember correctly changes every month just as you get used to it. Oh well, such is the sweet life with a newborn. He lets me snuggle him as much as I want and you can bet I'm taking every second of that I can get!

Where a Kid Can Be

traumatized by a dirty rat.

Okay, but seriously, given the other options for several consecutive rainy days Chuck E. Cheese is one of the cheapest. $5 gets you 20 tokens and each game/ride only takes one token each. Add in the playground maze and stage show and the rat's house is cheaper than most bounce places or indoor gyms. Plus when it was time to go instead of a battle we just waved the rat on over and Riley was begging us to "go home now". All in all a good day.

The princess in her carriage.

Riding the "trowley" car.

Playing on the drums and piano. This was one of my favorite things there. She could stand on the mini stage and cue up a song to rock out to.

Hello, I'm the skeeball queen. Which makes her the skeeball princess I suppose.

Notice the other little girl in the background admiring her form.

And just because he is so cute here's Cam the Man enjoying the Chuck E. Cheese experience.

Seen and Heard

SEEN:

Papa and my two babies watching some TV before bedtime.

Riley painting pictures on the back porch with her Gigi.

HEARD:

Riley climbing on her Mickey chair and jumping off.
THUMP.
climb
THUMP.

Me: Riley, please be careful I don't want you to hurt yourself.
Pause. She looks straight at me.
Riley: Mommy, calm down.

I have a feeling I'm going to be hearing this a lot as she gets older.

Our Home

is getting closer to being done every day! This was taken on Mother's Day and it's been almost two more weeks since then. TG reported last night that they had started on the inside trim details like shadowboxing and crown molding.

Sometimes we pinch ourselves when we think that we will finally have a house of our own in our town. It has been a long road, but we think it was God's plan that we should be able to bring both of our children to their new home together. What better way to start such an exciting chapter of our lives than together as our family of four?

We can't wait to have our friends and family over to BBQ and hang out. Less than a month to go!!!

Scrub a Dub

His umbilical cord came off in the middle of the night Friday, but we are still rocking the sponge bath until it has a few days to heal. My version of a sponge bath is stuffing the sink with towels to protect him and then using a washcloth and the handy blue bowl from the hospital to wash him off. So far no screaming while washing as long as the room is warm enough. Bathtime with Riley was always one of our favorite times of day so we can't wait until he graduates to the plastic tub, but for now we think this is still pretty cute.

Road Trip!

We did the unthinkable a couple days ago. We loaded up our 2 week old and 2 year old for a 4 hour road trip. If we hadn't left in the morning I would have had a cocktail before we got in the car.

Who am I kidding, if there had actually been any cocktails available at nine am I would have had one. I said a little prayer for sanity as we got everyone strapped in and God answered my prayer.

We only had to stop once to feed the little man and let the little gal go potty. Other than that Riley spent most of her trip singing, and silently watching TV with wireless headphones (=she can listen to her show while TG and I can blissfully NOT listen to her show).

And our sweet newborn spent most of his trip watching the inside of his eyelids.

It's the small victories and mini amounts of quiet time that really count.

Side Sleeper

I love sleeping on my side. Seems like our little guy has inherited that from me. Don't ask me how a 2 week old manages to get onto his side already, but he does and he loves it.

Accessorize!

Riley loves playing in the dirt, climbing trees and looking at bulldozers. But she also asks to put on my "eyeshowdow" and always has to put on her "capsticks" when I use my chapstick.

She also LOVES to accessorize.

Beautiful ruffle tiered yellow dress paired with JJ's baseball gear. She willingly posed which is usually a battle at this age so that tells me she thought she looked "Bootyful" enough to photograph.

Wearing her adventure hat. When her Gampy was here she put on this hat while we were shopping in Target and she suckered him into buying it for her by looking so darn cute in it. Whenever we go to play outside she grabs her hat so she can have "ventures".
