These Are The Words

I follow this blog that makes me cry and smile. The story is so sad and so uplifting at the same time. If you're looking for a new blog to read one day, I'd suggest this one. It's the story of a happy and healthy baby named Chloe whose Mama passed away shortly after she was born.

Chloe's Daddy writes the blog and he doesn't write very often, but he had a post today with some song lyrics that I just loved enough to share with my two children on my blog.

See the thing is, most of my blog is full of humorous and happy stories. I love sharing our lives and adventures with you, but I really keep this updated with memories, tidbits, and stories for Riley and Camden. My hope is that someday they will read this and be able to see how much I loved them, how happy they made me and oh how much I loved being their Mom.

So, if something ever happened to me, these are the words I would want to say to my two beloved babies.

And I started writing,
Just what I'd say,
If we were face to face,
I'd tell you just what you mean to me,
I'd tell you these simple truths,

Be strong in the LORD and,
Never give up hope,
You're going to do great things,
I already know,
God's got His hand on you so,
Don't live life in fear,
Forgive and forget,
But don't forget why you're here,
Take your time and pray,
These are the words I would say

Riley and Camden,

I love you to the moon and back again, to infinity and beyond, forever and ever.

Hapa

I'm hapa haoli. That's Hawaiian speak for half white. So what does that make my kids? Hapa hapa haoli? I don't know the word for quarter, but that's what Riley and Camden are.

You couldn't tell though by looking at Riley's beautiful tan skin, dark hair and dark eyes. Especially when I put her in some slippahs and a dress straight from the islands courtesy of her Gammy.

ALOHA!

I stole this from my bestie. I just loved it too much not to share with my blog readers. This is Riley and her best bud who was born 6 hours after her. I love them both to pieces.

Visit her site if you want awesome photos of your kids with their best friend.

Seen and Heard

SEEN:

Riley's Aunt Tata has been begging me to get my little Buddha belly into a two piece swimsuit since she was born. I found a super cute Hawaiian patchwork print one at Target a month ago for $2.50. Awesome clearance price = this photo. Eat your heart out Aunt Tata!

HEARD:

Riley jabs herself in the eye by accident in the car.

Riley:

OWWW-EEEE!
I hurt myself!
I poke my eye!
It all my fault.
I sorry Ridey, so so sorry.

Cam's One Month Stats

Yesterday was Camden's one month appointment. Good news is that he's healthy. Bad news is that Riley's bowels waged war on me while we were there. More on that in a moment. So at one month and 4 days Camden is:

11 lbs, 9 oz....93rd percentile
22.5 inches long...82nd percentile

and healthy as a horse. He is big, about the same size as Riley was at this point, but he's not considered off the charts for a boy. He is still in size 1 diapers and is currently wearing 3 month clothes.

As for his personality, so far he is chill unless he is hungry or tired. He must get that from TG. He is also starting to let us know that he loathes the car seat. Poor Riley always looks at me like I'm a bad parent when he is back there wailing.

Sleep wise he is doing well for a nursing baby. He is still off and on asleep for most of the day, takes a big nap when his big sister does in the afternoon, and at night has started going 5-6 hours on the first stretch, then 4 hours, then 2-3 before he is up for the day. We'll see how long this lasts, but for now I'm loving it.

Here's my favorite pic of him and me from this weekend. He is getting so big!

Anyway, as for poor Riley, I just have to blog this so we'll remember someday. My Riley girl is potty trained and I left enough time to take her to the potty before heading up to the doctor's waiting room where I was planning on feeding the little guy. All went well, she was happily playing, I sat down to nurse Cam and then she said urgently, "Mommy, my pee pee coming!". At this point I was holding Cam, with my business hanging out, so I told her to come over so I could slap a pull up on her.

TOO LATE. TOO TOO LATE. As I pulled down her undies with one hand because Cam was in the other I made the discovery no mother wants to make, especially in public. It was not pee pee and it was everywhere. Including all over me.

With Cam in one hand and my business still hanging out, as I had no mess free hand to fix it at this point, I dragged her back to the bathroom in front of the entire waiting room and spent 10 minutes cleaning her.

I thought she was done and we were back getting checked out by the doctor and she did it again (this time in a pull up luckily), but the pull up was no match for this mess. So I changed and cleaned her again. I didn't have two clean shirts so the poor thing ended up wearing a receiving blanket and shorts. She thought she was hot stuff as you can see.

We made it home, she ate lunch and all was fine. Until the mess went for round three. Conveniently when I had just removed the pull up she was in and walked three steps away to grab a clean one. Thank the Lord for Bissell SpotBot and Lysol with bleach shower cleaner.

Round four we made it to the potty. Whew.

So if you were keeping score it was:

Poop: 3
Me: 1

I can handle this and it was kind of humorous, but the saddest part was that Riley kept saying, "I so sorry Mommy, so so sorry."

But you'll be glad to know that her hurt feelings were nothing a little receiving blanket triangle top couldn't fix.

It Was The Best Day

Ever. More like weekend actually.

For Memorial Day we went to a local lake and spent time with some of our favorite people on their boat and other water toys.

Riley LOVES all things lake related. She was just so happy the entire time and it warmed my heart to see my little girl enjoy herself so much.

In the "Spotter's Seat". She was watching her Daddy power board and she let us know everytime he "felled off".

Cruising the waters. She kept saying "fastder, fastder!" She loved the wind and water spray in her face.

Riding the jet ski. This wasn't her first time believe it or not.

TG said she kept asking him to make it "gump, gump" which is Riley speak for jump. I told you she was a daredevil.

The water was the perfect temperature to cool off on a warm day. She swam around and around the boat and we had to drag her back in when it was time to go. She did not want to stop.

And as always, a pic of the little man. He was there and he was SO chill.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and I want to say thank you to all the servicemen and women (and their families!) I know who have given their time to help protect our country and our freedom.

So Fresh

and so clean. On his one month birthday my baby boy had his first bath.

This is before.

And during. He loved it!

Sorry it's blurry we had let the shower run on hot a bit to warm it up in there for him.

And I loved smelling his clean baby skin that night during his feedings.

Seen and Heard

SEEN:

Riley Roo trying out the Moby Wrap a friend is letting me borrow. She wore it like that for a little bit and then informed me it was too tight and that it was "coking" her neck.

Our house is almost done! I stopped by there last Friday and I got so excited. The landscaping has been started (just waiting on sod) and the driveway and sidewalks were poured. They were working hard on the inside and most of the trims, moldings, and shadow boxing were up. The kitchen was being installed that day and some of the fixtures and cabinets were going in. We are officially 3 weeks from closing (if we are able to close on time) and I know we have a lot to do in that short time, but we are just so excited to move in!!!

HEARD:

In the car sitting at McD's. I'm feeding the little guy and Riley is eating her lunch in the backseat.

Riley: singing... I fallying to cieces, yah, I fallying to cieeeeeces.

Summer is coming

It's not quite summer yet, but it's warm enough and...

The fountains are on again! Wednesday night I was wanting some ice cream and TG informed me of this little factoid. So we combined a trip to Haagen Dazs with a trip to the fountains for the princess. It was an awesome way to spend an evening.

(By the way if you clicked the link - can you believe how much older she looks in less than a year? Slow down time, just a little.)

Modeling her new swimsuit from Gigi.

Trying to stop the water...

unsuccessfully.

Cooling her "jets".

The little guy doing what he does best.

Fotos Only Friday

well sort of.

Someone is already one month old.

And I fall a little more in love everyday.

Seen and Heard

SEEN:

Eat your heart out Fancy Nancy. Riley is very into dressing herself up in all combinations of outfits these days. She will put everything on, take everything off over and over again all the while walking in and out of our door saying hello, and some version of bye, see you soon, love you this much. It's so darn cute. Notice the "venture" hat her Gampy got her. It goes with every outfit.

HEARD:

Riley "swadding" her doll up on the floor over and over again while I feed Camden.

Me: Hey Ry, can you bring brother's lotion to me?
Riley: Yes, okay Mommy. I swadding my baby. Jus give me one second.

Clearly she's heard 'just give me one second' a few times lately.

Missing Her Friends

I think Riley is missing her friends. This afternoon while Cam napped in his bouncy seat I ran around like a mad person doing laundry, dinner prep, and cleaning. I had set Riley up with some "markeders", "colyours" and paper at the table, but when I emerged form the laundry room she had disappeared.

I found her downstairs in my room watching "rat tootie" on the Disney channel with her new friends.

Bless her lonely heart, the poor thing had all three of them lined up on the seat next to her and she kept asking them what their name was and how old they were. She then instructed me to say hello to her friends "Tinkdeybell, Baby, and Princess". Right now she's napping with all three of her litte friends with her.

We might be needing to schedule a playdate with some real friends soon.

And just in case you wondered what the little guy is looking like these days.

Barefoot Rileyessa

Riley loves baking. Whenever I'm in the kitchen with mixing bowls she starts dragging over a chair to "hewlp". Yesterday as a reward for using the potty her Gigi let her bake and decorate sugar cookies.

The cookies were break and bake, so mess free which is awesome. But the decorating was a little messier. Gigi bought sprinkles and M&M's to top the cookies with. Riley is a heavy decorator. She dumped whole handfuls of sprinkles on each cookie and mashed several M&M's into each one.

She was also a heavy eater. We didn't notice until halfway through, but for each handful of M&M's she took to decorate she shoved a handful in her mouth. Needless to say she didn't eat much dinner that night. Instead she ran circles like a crazy person in the backyard.
